The photography has been—what’s the phrase—subtle? boring? since moving down to Brighton. I have been firmly not going to the seafront and taking pictures of the West PIer, and usually heading the other way into the South Downs, usually around Ditchling Beacon.
I’ve been trying to understand the place. Curves, hawthorns, dewponds and more sky than I ever had at my disposal in London. I’ve also been learning development techniques and I have started shouting at my scanner. There is some calibration to do but the cheapo Canoscan is hugely mushy compared to the negatives – I can see the sharpness with my loupe.
Anyway, the photography is certainly not showy. I fear I might be described as a "local photographer" God help me. But it is tuning into the place and the new techniques so bear with me.
